Everyone is afraid of something, and in this world there are plenty of bad things to be concerned about. When we focus on the things that cause us to be afraid or worry, life can seem pretty dark and hopeless. The good news of Christmas is that Jesus came to save us, and nothing can separate us from his powerful love. His love is like a light shining in the darkness, showing us that we do not need to be afraid of anything. “Fear not!” the angels said. There is good news for everyone! Today we will focus on and celebrate the presence of our Lord Jesus, the light of the world. Luke 2:1-7 (ESV)

And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
