With each pose there is a puzzle, a vexing aspect where you are presented with a predicament that prevents you from easily perceiving something that seems like it ought to be obvious. In this case, Extended Side Angle posture or Utthita Parsvakonasana, you are asked to make a diagonal line with your back leg, spine, and top arm while also keeping these 3 parts of you lined up in the side plane. Sounds easy enough but this apparently simple task turns out to be a complex puzzle that is vexingly difficult to solve.
